Pawesome Work & Grandparents' Day

This year, OCA is focusing on "Cultivating Contributors".  In the elementary, we are working to instill these character traits into the students.  I started on a display in the classroom so that I could remember the words for the year.  I still have to add our "Cultivating Contributors" sign in that one spot.  The kids have "Bingo" books that they get to put stickers on for each word on the board.  Classes also earn chains to put on a bulletin board in the hallway.  I'll try to get a better picture when this is all finished.

Here is a new hallway display that I made to go along with my Clifford "dog" theme!

We started the short o sound and one of our words was "dog"!  I couldn't possibly let that word go by without doing a craft to hang in the hall.  The kids did a "follow my directions" activity.  I told a story and drew on the board as I was telling the story and in the end it turned out to be a dog!  They loved it!  We ended up doing it 3 times and they picked out their favorite one to color and put in the hallway.  We got them finished just in time for Grandparents' Day!

Speaking of Grandparents' Day.......
The performance was fast and furious!  I guess that happens when your school grows.  Here are both first grade classes singing at Grandparents' Day!
