Doubles! Doubles! I can add Doubles!

We've been working on our Doubles FACTs for WEEKS!  I found this adorable doubles craft and we worked together on making it one afternoon during our math time.  It's a "double's monster" and all the parts have something to do with a doubles fact!  There were lots of different colors for the kids to choose from.

Here's the Doubles Rap that we practice in class:

It's the Doubles Rap baby!
Let's go!  Let's go!
It's the Doubles Rap baby!
And it starts with 0!
0 + 0 = 0  Ohhhhh!
1 + 1 = 2  Ooooooooo!
2 + 2 = 4  More!
3 + 3 = 6  Mix!
4 + 4 = 8  That's great!
5 + 5 = 10  Again!
6 + 6 = 12  That's swell!
7 + 7 = 14  Don't be mean!
8 + 8 = 16 You can be seen!
9 + 9 = 18  Jelly bean!
10 + 10 = 20  That's plenty!

Lucy, Madison, and Corbin are putting together their monster!

Brooks is adding detail to his monster.

Quinn is adding detail to her monster!

Henry is cutting and Marshall is checking out Henry's work.

Sierra and Grace have very cute little monsters!

Brooks, Bowen, Madi, and Corbin are busy, busy, busy!

Zaylie is busy gluing.

Cooper and Lucy are assembling their monsters.

Great job, Marshall!

Anderson, Grace, and Sierra are adding finishing touches.

Get a good look at that table!  Whew!  How do they even know whose stuff is whose?!!!!

Below, you can see what my example looked like!

Below, these kiddos were so proud to finish all of these puzzles!  Good job, Corbin, Anderson, Sierra, and Quinn!

  1. Zaylie LOVES the doubles rap and the motions that go along with it. I think I have it memorized now from the million times she has sang it lol

    1. I'm so glad she loves it! I bet she for sure knows her doubles now, too! I love using silly little things like this to make things "stick" with kids. Kids learn in a variety of ways, and I try to incorporate different types of learning to meet all the needs!
