The Ten Commandments

We learned about the Ten Commandments from Mrs. Berry during chapel this week. Here are some pictures!

Senior Night

I work with some pretty amazing people! I'm so thankful to Mrs. Cave and Mrs. Berry for taking my class at the end of the day Friday so that I could attend the "pepper rally" (as my class calls it) for the seniors. It's been a somewhat sad season for us due to injury that Zach had to his foot. My husband and I are so very proud of our son. He is such a good Christian young man. We know God will use him in a mighty way! Here are pictures from the "pepper rally" and senior night.

Drug-Free Red Ribbon Week

We had a very special guest this week for our Drug-Free Red Ribbon Week. We had someone from the drug task force along with Roz the dog to teach the students about being drug free. The students loved it! Roz did several backflips for the kids!

Brain Breaks!

I love all the cool videos on YouTube that can be used in the classroom. I've been able to pin a bunch of "Brain Break" videos onto Pinterest which makes it easy for me to pull up when I notice that the class needs a break. We have snack at 10:00 and also a restroom and water break. This is the perfect time for me to play these so that the students want to get their "bathroom business" done and get back to the classroom! They love these! Their favorite ones are by Learning Station. Here are the little cuties in action!

Party Time!

We had a great Fall Party today! The food was great and the crafts were great! The kids had a blast! Thanks to all the parents who helped make this a great party! Now, time for Fall Break!!!!!

Buddy Reading

As a part of our Daily 5 reading, we have partner reading time. The students take turns reading to one another and they have a check mark with questions on it to "check" for understanding after reading. They've been doing great with this! Here are our pictures from today! They read for 15 minutes to one another! I'm so proud of them!

Fun Fall Week!

"Wowie wow wow!" (As Junie B. Jones would say!). We've had a fun, busy week! On Tuesday, Mrs. Cave and Mrs. Laxton led a fun chapel time! Mrs. Laxton read "The Pumpkin Patch Parable". After that, we all participated with a mini pumpkin book. As Mrs. Laxton instructed us in our books, Mrs. Cave carved the pumpkin. The booklet is called "The Pumpkin Prayer". Here's how it goes:

(Cut off the top.)

Lord, open my mind and fill me with Your wisdom and guidance.

(Scoop out the yuckies.)

Lord, take out all of my fussies and frownies and fill me with Your love.

(Carve out the eyes.)

Lord, open my eyes to see all of the beautiful things You have made.

(Carve out the nose.)

Lord, help me to be a sweet, sweet fragrance for You.

(Carve out the mouth.)

Lord, help me to always speak Your words of love and kindness.

(Place in a candle.)

Lord, let me be a light to others. For You have filled me with Your light. ~ Author Unknown

I love that! I wish I had that prayer when my children were young! What a great way to carve a pumpkin together!

Today, Mrs. Campbell came to chapel and read another book about a pumpkin and talked to the kids about being a "light" to the world. We sang "This Little Light of Mine" with her. It was lots of fun! After that, Mrs. Berry shared a poem with us and we decorated our pumpkins. What a blessing it is to be able to put God into everything we do! I love that about our school!
