Christmas Program and Christmas Activities

Our Christmas program was so precious!  The kids did a fabulous job and were such troopers at all of our rehearsals!  I captured a few pictures at our dress rehearsal, because I know how hard it is to get a good picture on the day of the program!

Ava was the perfect little Mary!

Reid was the narrorator.  Lillianna and Annabelle were beautiful little angels and Jett is a shepherd who is calling his sheep.

Kyler must have lost some of his sheep and Silas is very calm and is focusing on his lines.  Sarah and Cailyn are beautiful little angels!

This is the party where Ava placed the baby in the manger.

Here they all are!  So, SO adorable!

I had to show 2 of our "Independent" math centers from this past week!  I love combining crafts with math!

I just had to get a close-up of Murphy's elf!  Check out those eyelashes and earrings!

I have some STEM challenge cards for the month of December that I put out for the kids to use when they finished their math centers early.

Sarah made a gift!

Jett made a Christmas tree.

Lillianna made a Christmas tree.

Annabelle made a Christmas tree.

Mason made a Christmas tree.

Sarah made a stocking.

Lillianna updated her Christmas tree with ornaments.

Sarah made a poinsettia.

Silas made a stocking.

I love Christmas and all the fun activities and crafts that we can do together!  Most of all, I love how God loved us ALL so much that he sent His only Son, in the form of a human child, into this world, to rescue us and save us!  What a special time to focus on Jesus and His miraculous birth!  Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!  II Corinthians 9:15.

We love math centers!

This is my first year to try math centers, and just let me say, "I LOVE THEM!"  Why?
1. It allows me to teach in small groups.
2.  It allows the students to work together in small groups.
3.  It allows the students to practice skills independently in a fun way and with their center partners.
4.  It allows kids to play math games!
5.  It allows kids to use technology to practice their math skills.
6.  It allows me to catch misunderstandings that students are having and to help correct them.

Here are some more pictures of the kids in action during math centers!

This is a kid favorite!  They put the number cards in order from 1-120!  They are so proud and always ask me to take their picture when they are finished.

These girls are playing the "fishing" game to practice addition and subtraction facts.  You will also see kids with i-pads playing math games.

These kids are playing a math game where they find a some and try to connect 4 dots to "capture" that number.  The other 3 kiddos are using technology to practice math facts.

"Mrs. Ruff!  We did it!  Can you take our picture?"

These kids are working together at a math center.

Murphy and Cailyn are working at the "I" (Independent) center.

Mason and Silas are at the Independent center.

Jett is at the "T" for "Technology" center.  I love how they choose the rockers or chairs and spread out all over the classroom to work at the "Technology" center!

Well, there you go!  Here's another peek into our daily math centers!

WONDERtorium Field Trip

So, we were supposed to go to the Pumpkin Patch today for our fall field trip, but it was MUCH too cold and rainy.  I'm glad we found this place!  It's called the WONDERtorium and it is in Tulsa.  There were tons of fun things for the kids to do.  We took sack lunches and ate right when we arrived, then the kids played the rest of the day.  Here are pics from our trip!

Lillianna and Cailyn in the grocery store.  The crutches from the "Doctor's Office" were a kid favorite!

Jett and Kyler are in the "ambulance"!

Dr. Rahmani is taking good care of Silas's hurt leg.

Silas is shooting the catapult and trying to hit the target on the castle.

Sarah is taking orders and making pizza in the pizza kitchen.

How's that ankle doing, Dr. Rahmani?

This was a cool contraption of pipes with air blowing through them.  The kids could take soft nerf balls and scarfs and put inside the tubes and change up how the air circulated.

Jett and Kyler are at the Doctor's Office.

Silas is STILL struggling with his leg!  Maybe Annabelle can assist!

Caleb is making a craft in the art center.

Poor Silas!

Cailyn is also being creative in the art center.

Here are Cailyn and Reid in the art center.

Meanwhile..... back at the Doctor's office.....

Chef Cailyn has prepared something yummy!

And, back on the stage, once again, is Kyler and Mason!

Ava's singing is a crowd favorite!

She doesn't suffer from stage fright!

Caleb has been building with giant foam blocks.

The girls have something brewing in the cauldron.

Jett is climbing a wall!

Jett and Reid decide to help in the sound booth at the theater.

Good job, boys!

Keep on singing, Ava!

Hold on, tightly, Jett!

Silas made a mask in the craft center.

Meanwhile.....back on the stage....

Okay, boys!  It's getting a little rough up there!

Hang on, Jett!

Safety first, with the life jacket!

Cailyn really likes those crutches.

Lilli is now on duty.

Annabelle gets great swaddling tips from her mom.

3 rock climbers

Jett is headed out for a fishing trip!  Don't forget the fishing poles!

Get those sails ready, Cailyn!

Dr.  Rogers to the rescue!

Cailyn is showing off the binoculars she made in the craft center!

We sure did have a wonderful day!  The kids played hard and nicely together!  The bus ride home was quieter.  Some kiddos fell asleep!  I'm thankful we had somewhere to go that was inside and warm.  We plan to go to the pumpkin patch in the spring for a "make-up" day.
