Valentine's Day

Mrs. Cave presented a wonderful lesson on God's love for us on Valentine's Day. Afterward, she handed out paper hearts and the kids sang "Love is Nothing 'Til You Give it Away". The kids passes around the paper hearts as they sang! Very cute!

Celebrating Dr. Suess' Birthday!

Not only were we busy with Read Across America today, but we were also busy celebrating Dr. Sues' birthday! We made "Thing 1 & Thing 2". They are SO adorable! I love crafts with the kids' faces! I'm sure you've figured that out by now! We also did a "listening and following directions" activity. The students followed my directions to draw the Cat in the Hat. They turned out so cute! I mounted them onto black paper and hung them in the hall. I could do Dr. Sues activities for weeks!

The Cat in the Hat

Tyler Perring, our drama and music teacher, dressed up as the Cat in the Hat and read the story to us during our Read Across America morning.  The kids loved it!

Read Across America

Today our school participated in Read Across America. We had guests come and read their favorite book. The president of the board, Jason Garner, read first. Then, the president of our school, Brandon Tatum read next. Dr. Coppedge read his favorite book. Then we had a special visit from the Cat in the Hat himself (AKA Tyler Perring, our music and drama teacher). Mrs. Kelsey finished out our day with her book. We also took turns in between our guests reading to read to a partner. Our first grade class was paired up with the 5th grade class. It was a really special morning! Here are pictures.
